Music In Columbus - Greenroom

Thanks to Bill Becker, SeanRox and everybody at MIC for this most excellent web site, particularly the Greenroom section, this is going to catch on like a wildfire. We have a veritable plethora of musical talent in and around Columbus, GA and this concept gives us the opportunity to spring, once again, into the local spotlight. This MIC thing is the best idea that's hit this area in a long time and we artists need to get involved in it and let the entire community know that we are professionl…

Good to see you at Pasaquan as a birthday adventure. Autumn and I would like to return with some beverages and food next time. (can you believe that?)

Y'know... I think I'd to see how I can contribute to grow next year's event) The Pasaquan experience is pretty amazing... do you know the "Pasaquan People"?

Ol' Rick,

Thanks for bringing down The Mad Tea Party to play at the Folk Music Society Listening Room... let me know about your zoning issues/resolution so we can properly promote your next event.

Hey Rick,
Thanks for the comment. I can't wait to see this site grow and take off. I'm telling everyone I know to check it out.

Rick,
Glad you're on the web board. You've been an active supporter of the music scene in Columbus and we're proud to have you helping get MIC up and running. If we can get the music community networked and talking with each other, ain't no telling where we might end up. Continued success to you and the Chattahoochee Folk Music Society.

Thanks Rick! We need all the help we can get! Also, we need to start planning Hog Bottom III if you are still interested.

PhotoShoot for "It's My Lie (Let Me Live It)"

I didn't want to write about all of this until I knew for SURE it was going to come to fruition. Now I can announce, the photoshoot is set up for Tuesday (11/18). Mercede's of Columbus has graciously allowed us use of a 2009 convertible, Maple Ridge Golf Club has granted permission for us to use one of the greens for the shots and I have a fanastic looking model, Randi, who will be posing as my 'Supermodel Girlfriend" for my upcoming single, "It's My Lie (Let Me Live It)". I don't want to give a… Continue

FBA

Update...

FBA has taken a break. Whether or not they will join again is still up in the air. The drummer left for Berklee and the others are busy in their senior year. They only have one recent recording to show for their stent in the Columbus scene (engineer issues involving the engineer screwing them). All guitars for "Why No Country for Old Men Shouldn't Have Been a Musical" recorded by Chris Helms. Drums and vocals recorded by Steven Gowan. More recordings are planned to surface within the next few mo… Continue

Jam with that Toast?

So I was eating some toast this morning and decided I needed some jam with that... so I created Beatnik Jam. It's a new flavor concept which needs further experimentation before I deem it complete. No, it's not finished, but it's cool to jam to (and eat toast with.) - a

Yet another one...

Wrote this one in my apartment at around 6:30 in the morning. I'm sure the neighbors were -very- pleased. The song's called "Follow". It's about the move down from Atlanta to Columbus. Yeah, it's a little harder than some of the other stuff you hear on my page, but I write whatever I feel like writing... that's the beauty of music, right? I purposefully didn't put a guitar or any solo work on there, so all you guitar players, feel free to come up with something appropriate and message me. Not s… Continue

New Song... yay!

It's been a while, but I finally got the bit of concentration I so desperately needed so I decided to write something I always wanted to do... a combo "space rock" and "gospel" song. I call it "Pathfinder." I will be playing in the Nashville Songwriter's Association event tomorrow evening at the Phoenix City Amphitheater (I'm guessing that's the name of it) with some very talented musicians. I consider it a very big honor to be asked to play with these guys (and gals.) I won't be playing any of… Continue

Still Here!

No, I didn't drop off the face of the earth, but then again, after the abysmal open mic the other night, I should. Finally got a temporary living space... an apartment, while we wait for our house to sell in Atlanta. Even better, I finally got internet. Only took 2 weeks to get someone to get over here and get me wired up. At least I can upload some new content. Music's been sort of on-hold for a couple of weeks for the reasons previously mentioned, plus, with the family down and no specific "… Continue

The Preverbial To-Do List

1. Now that the single is mastered, we must get the CD cover art done. Where is my model? I've got the props, but where is my model? Oh, yeah, she's in college and playing softball... 2. Buy PA worthy of small venues. 3. Find qualified and committed drummer, guitarist, bassist and possibly keyboard player for tour in spring. (I say this like it's easy, LOL!) 4. Ok, photoshoot completed, get the artwork to the printers and have press kits printed (with 8x10 photo, one page bio, quote sheet and… Continue

MIC Compilation sells 100 CDs out-of-the-box

Music in Columbus' long-anticipated compilation CD "Ten Songs from the Edge of Georgia" is back from the manufacturer, then immediately sold the first 100 copies. The Columbus Convention and Visitor's Bureau purchased the order and will be on sale in the Columbus Visitor's Center at 900 Front Avenue in UpTown Columbus, Georgia. MusicInColumbus.org's first CD project delivers a pleasantly blended "jukebox/mixtape" audio journey weaving ten local artists from ten distinct musical genres into one… Continue
